On the eve of ‘Uttarayan’ festival, Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani today gifted a new ST bus station to Rajkot city, popularly known as the social, economical and commercial capital of Saurashtra region.
The permission to construction a new bus station was taken in the State Cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Mr. Rupani in Gandhinagar, today. In the Cabinet meeting a decision was taken to allocate 6,800 sq mt land plot at a token rate for constructing a new Madhapar Bus Station in Rajkot city.
Under the visionary leadership of Mr. Rupani, an initiative has been taken to reconstruct new modern ST bus stations, designed like an airport, with ultra modern facilities on the PPP based partnership.
At present, as many as seven such But ports are operational across the state. They are: Ahmedabad Ranip, Geetamandir, Vadodara, Rajkot, Surat, and Mehsana. And, the construction of new Bus port is under progress at eight other places in Gujarat.
These bus ports are equipped with facilities such as shopping mall, vast waiting hall, luggage trolleys for the passengers, LED displays for bus-time table, comfortable sitting arrangements and others for the passengers.
Recently, the Chief Minister had inaugurated a newly constructed modern bus port, at a cost of Rs. 42.22-Crore, in Rajkot city.
The new Madhapar bus station will be constructed on 150 feet ring-road, near Madhapar cross-road. It will be a blessing for the people-travellers of Jamnagar, Dwarka, Junagadh and Porbandar districts of the Saurashtra region. This new bus stop will also ease the burden on the existing bus stop of Rajkot city.
The new bus station to be constructed at Madhapar cross-road will have 8-platforms, passengers’ waiting area, shopping complex, stalls-canteen, drinking water, toilets, rest-rooms for drivers and conductors and other facilities.
Daily 300 bus trips – carrying more than 4,500 passengers — will be carried out from this bus station.
