Kalyanbaug, one of the most well known landmarks of Valsad city, has been given a new look. The re-inauguration of this prominent landmark was held today on 26th December 2020.
The renovation of both Kalyan Baug and Jyotiminara cost nearly Rs.4.2 crores which is way more than the actual cost of the original construction.90 years back Kalyan baug was built on 25636 square yards government land by the municipality with the help of a native of Valsad Late Motilal Kalyanji (owner of M/s Kalyan Moti Company Mumbai) in memory of his late father Sheth Kalyan Harjivan. Late Motilal Kalyanji donated a whooping Rs. 20201 in 1930 for the construction of this garden,He donated Rs.11000 for construction, Rs. 5000 for maintenance and Rs. 4201 for iron railings, sign boards, fences, lights etc. In total Rs.20201.
