In a significant recognition of his exceptional performance, Income Tax Officer Dharmendra (Dharmesh) Tekwani from Valsad, Gujarat, has been awarded the prestigious Certificate of Excellence at the national level. The felicitation ceremony was held in Delhi by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to commemorate the 165th anniversary of the Indian Income Tax Department.
Tekwani, the sole representative from Gujarat among the 29 officers honored, was selected for his outstanding contributions to the department. His most notable achievement was the recovery of a staggering more then Rs. 10 crore in old demand for the years 1970-71 and 1971-72. This impressive recovery included around Rs. 9 crore in interest, making it a 53-year-old recovery that set a new benchmark.Tekwani’s dedication and expertise have not only garnered national recognition but have also inspired colleagues across Gujarat and the Union Territory of Daman and Diu. As the current head of the Silvassa Income Tax Department, his leadership and achievements have undoubtedly boosted morale and fostered a renewed sense of enthusiasm among the department’s officials.
