Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani today categorically stated that with an objective to make all-rounder Gujarat a leader in the sports field too, Gujarat government has allocated a handsome budget of Rs. 560-crore for conducting sports activities in the state.
In this reference, the Chief Minister pointed out that the previous governments of the Congress party were adopting indifferent approach towards sports and games; and were allocating meagre amount of Rs. 50-crore for the sports-budget. While the current government is allocating whopping amount in sports budget so that the sports talents can get training of the international standards to shine-out at the world levels.
Today, the Chief Minister digitally gifted a sports development works, worth of Rs. 31.52 crore, at function organized in Gandhinagar by the State Government’s sports, youth, and cultural department to dedicate to people and to lay foundation-stones for various programmes.
These developmental works include inauguration of ‘Multi-Purpose Sports Complex’ and Cricket Ground at a cost of Rs. 4.56 – crore at Bibipura in Ahmedabad district, multi-purpose indoor hall at sports complex built at a cost of Rs. 5-Cr at Panchot in Mehsana district, and laying foundation-stones for dormitory building at sports complex in Rajpipla and various amenities and staff-quarters at ‘Swarnim Gujarat Sports University’ at Desar, in total at a cost of Rs. 21.96-Cr.
The events were also attended by the Gujarat Home Minister Mr. Pradipsinh Jadeja, Sports Minister of State Mr. Ishwarsinh Patel, MPs – Mr. H. S. Patel and Jugalji Lokhandwala, MLAs, officials and others.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister inspired the youths to develop strong physical and mental abilities to join into the nation-building.
Mr. Rupani further stated that through various means such as Sports Authority of Gujarat, Swarnim Gujarat Sports University, Shaktidoot Yojana and others, state government has given opportunities to sportspersons of Gujarat to shine-out at the national and international levels.
Not only these, Gujarat government has built modern sports complexes in 21 districts; and also giving away prizes worth of several crore rupees through organizing events such as Khel Mahakumbh and others to encourage lakhs of Gujarat-players to participate in various sports disciplines and games, he added.
Others who spoke on the occasion included sports minister of state Mr. Ishwarbhai Patel and Dr. Arjunsinh Rana – Vice-Chancellor of Swarnim Gujarat Sports University.
