On the eve of ‘Makar Sankranti – Uttarayan’ festival, Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani today gifted an important gift to 3.37-crore citizens of approximately 69.42 lakh NFSA Antyodaya families of the state.
In the State Cabinet meeting held in Gandhinagar today, the Chief Minister had taken an important decision to distribute one kg of chickpeas at free of cost to 8.11 lakh Antyodaya card holder families as well as 61.31 Ration card holder families, in total 3.37-crore citizens, of Gujarat. The free chickpeas will be given to the beneficiary families along with their regular ration-foods for the month of February.
For ensuring that nobody sleeps without foods even during the span of Corona pandemic, showing sensitive side of his emotional heart the Chief Minister had arranged to distribute 12.50 lakh MT foodgrains at free of cost for 5.30-crore citizens of Gujarat.
In the Cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister had also decided to purchase products like Tuver, Chana, Raydo at supportive prices through the Gujarat State Civil Supplies Corporation along with good prices so that the farmers of Gujarat get affordable prices of their agricultural produce.
Later, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Mr. Jayeshbhai Radadia gave details of the decision taken in the state cabinet meeting as well as the decision to distribute 1 kg of chickpeas free of cost to Antyodaya families.
In this reference, Mr. Radadia further stated that the state government will purchase Tuver (Tur) at a price of Rs. 6,000 per quintal from 108 procurement centers of the state. The registration for this can be done by the farmers through VCE, APMC from January 15 to 31. The Tuver will be purchased from February 1, 2001 to May 1, 2001.
Similarly, Chana (chickpeas) will be purchased at Rs. 5,100/- per quintal from 188 purchase centres. And, Raydo will be purchased at Rs. 4,650/- per quintal from 99 purchase centres across the state.
